The Yamaha RX-V367 5.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver has an entry-level price but it's got high-end features like four HDMI 1.4 inputs. HDMI 1.4 is the latest version of the specification for carrying video and audio together on one cable in pure digital form from source to set. And with a future firmware update your V367 will be 3-D compatible. So you can build your 3-D system gradually, as your budget allows.

Another advanced feature of this low cost home theater receiver is its support for 10-bit and even 12-bit color, which means it can pass along billions of colors for the sharpest pictures with the smoothest transitions from color to color.

So it's going to pass great pictures from your DVD or Blu-ray player to your high definition TV. But what about the sound? That's where Yamaha's years of experience really pay off. Your V367 can put out more than 500 watts of audio power. (If you add a subwoofer it has to be self powered so its wattage will vary according to its rating.)

It's also an AM/FM receiver with 40 station presets you can let the V367 scan for you or you can set them yourself.

On the audio side of things the V367 goes from strength to strength. It's got the Dolby and DTS surround sound processors you'd expect but it's also got 17 different additional Yamaha-developed processors. Ray guns never sounded zappier than in Sci-Fi mode. Cinematic spectaculars are even more so in Spectacle mode. You can even make your recordings sound like you're live at LA's Roxy Theatre or New York City's famous jazz club The Bottom Line.

Another way your V367 makes your music sound better is with its compressed music enhancer. It'll make your MP3 and WMA files sound more like the uncompressed originals. And all of your audio will sound its best thanks to 192kHz/24-bit Burr Brown digital/analog converters. Burr Brown, now a part of Texas Instruments, has been in the forefront of high-performance electronic signal processing for more than 50 years.

Optional equipment available for your V367 includes an iPod/iPhone dock and a Bluetooth receiver. The dock is compatible with most recent iPods and iPhones. The Bluetooth receiver supports A2DP music, a common format for music-capable phones and portable music players.
